When it comes to CCF, they have a very strong security system to prevent the download of movies, softwares and other data files using the college network. But, at last I’ve found a way to crack it all. Now you can download anything you like from the CCF.

Step 1:

Goto any suitable proxymizing site tat is available. I personally prefer http://unblockit.info. (Note: You can also use Facebook, Myspace or any other site using unblockit.info)

Step 2:

Enter you favourite torrent search website in the text box that appears on the webpage. Mine is http://thepiratebay.org. After this I  search for whatever I like, say the movie Captain America. Then I choose my favorite torrent file, which could be randomly any one of the ones that appear in the search results. Now, I copy the torrent link. In this case, you copy the torrent link by right clicking on the inverted green triangle below the name of the movie. And then clicking on “Copy Link address”.

Step 3:

Goto http://unblockit.info again. This time, enter “http://torrific.com” in the text box and open the site.

Step 4:

Create an account at torrific through the sign up button on top right. After signing up, you’ll see another text box where you’ll have to enter the torrent file link that you copied from the pirate bay. A new page will appear showing the names of all the files contained in that torrent. Alongwith the names, there will be a button titled “Initiate Bittorrent Transmission” on the  right sidebar of the screen. Click on it and wait.

Step 5:

The page will again reload and after sometime you’ll see the blue colored links on the page. Copy the ones that you want and paste them to mozzilla firefox’s address bar. Hooraah! You’re done. The downlaod will start shortly.

The next time, it would be a tutorial on running fast downloads in CCF. So, Stay Tuned :) ;)

Many programs come with a habit of checking their newer versions everytime they run. The most ridiculous example of this is Google Talk. The program checks for update and if a newer version is available, it shows an annoying pop-up saying that, A new update is available for Google Talk, please update. Now the problem of users like me, is, this proves to be a major distraction. So, today we will see, how to disable such distractions. Most of the developers are decent enough to provide some option saying “Disable automatic update check” in the program settings menu. But Google insists on using the latest version only. But do we really want to upgrade from version 2.3.1.12 to version 2.3.1.14? I don’t think, I’d not like to do so.

This is a tutorial for programs that do not give an option like “Disable Auto-update” or something.

We are going to learn how to disable notifications of update check for Google Talk. You can try the analogy with other programs similarly.

Step 1:

Open the “Run” dialogue box by pressing “Windows key” + “R” . Type “regedit.exe” and hit enter. This will open the default Registry Editor of Windows.

Step 2:

On the left sidebar, you’ll see and option of “HKEY_CURRENT_USER”. Click on it. A list of folders will be dropped down. Click on “Software”. Then further, click on “Google” and then on “Google Talk” in the same sidebar. The first option in the list that will appear hereafter, would be “Update Check”.

Step 3:

Click on update check. Then come on the main window and double click on the last option “Update URL”. Copy the URL from the following dialogue box, and then download the file using any download manager.

Step 4:

Upload the file to any free hosting server. I prefer “www.largedocument.com”. Then copy the link provided to you. Replace the link in the registry with this new link.

You’re done my friend. The program will never be able to detect a newer version. And when you truly think that you need a newer version of the program, you can always download it for free, but the annoying notification of newer updates available are gone forever.

Have a nice day folks. Don’t forget to comment and express your views :)

Hey guys, its been a while since I last posted something on this tech blog. So here we go. Today I’ll explain in detail, how to run Google Talk and get it running on CCF, or any computing facility where everything else but firefox is blocked. So let’s begin.

Step 1:

Download the Google Talk Setup Installation file from http://dl.google.com/googletalk/googletalk-setup.exe . After downloading it, change its filename to firefox.exe

Step 2:

Install the setup properly. The installation is expected to go without a hitch.

Step 3:

Go to “My computer“<”C:“<”Documents and Settings“<”knsccf.CCFSVR0.001“<”Start Menu“<”Programs“<”Google Talk

Inside this folder you will find the icon of Google Talk and below would be written “Google Talk”.

Right Click on it, Go to “Properties”.

Replace, Target from “C:\Documents and Settings\knsccf.CCFSVR0.001\Application Data\Google\Google Talk\google-talk.exe” /startmenu” to “C:\Documents and Settings\knsccf.CCFSVR0.001\Application Data\Google\Google Talk\firefox.exe” /startmenu

Step 4:

Now go to “My Computer“<”C:“<”Documents and Settings“<”Application Data“<”Google“<”Google Talk

You will find the main file of Google Talk titled “google-talk.exe“. Rename it to “firefox.exe

Step 5:

Now, as we all know the proxy settings are harsh on our CCF computers. So some proxy configuration.

On the login dialogue box of Google talk, Click on the “Settings” on the top right corner of the Google Talk dialogue box which opens.

In the left sidebar of the Window which now opens, there is an option called “Connection”. Click on it.

Click on the radio button saying “Use the following proxy:” Click the checkbox, the proxy requires authentication. In the “Host” text box, enter “10.1.1.5″ and in the “Port” dialogue box, enter “8080″. Then enter you CCF ID and Passowrd in the boxes of “Username” and “Password” below the one in which you’ve just entered the proxy. That’s it, you’re done.

Now click

Google has recently launched Google+ for limited preview and people are really enjoying despite of its extremely limited set of features and basic functionality. I would be throwing light on a very elementary part of Google’s new service, the “+1 button”(refer Screenshot X). This button is an enhancement to the Google’s searching algorithm, with the tagline “Isn’t it easy to find something that your friend has already found”. Google will collect each and every “+1″ that you make while searching on Google and they will be displayed in a special tab on Google Plus (which can be found under the profile section, as shown in screenshot 1 below), for enhancing the search procedure for those who are searching for the very same thing. This service is completely user dependent, hence, because the more number of people keep on “+1″ing the correct links in your circles, the more accurate your search is gonna be. So better invite as many friends as possible to Google Plus and encourage them to “+1″ the useful link once they have found it.

Also, this is going to set a new benchmark for the sites even when they are not yet visited by your friends. Most of the major websites already have a Google “+1″s button which marks that how many users throughout the world have found the website usefull. As you can see in Screenshot 2.

As me and my friend Bharat Singh Bhandari were cruising along the embankments of Shakti Canal, here at Rishikesh, we found a boulder contructed on half of the road which blocked half the way, causing some inconvenience… As we closed in, we noticed some well known instruments floating on water. We saw something that looked quite similar to a generator, or a motor, a large floating desk, and chains that held the device on to the boulders. We were excited to see the setup , so we went across the canal and asked the officer on duty about the setup. He told us, that these were “Floating Turbines”.

And… yes, the aspirants of engineering are busy once again. And as expected the CCB(Central Counselling Board), India are back with their extremely poor website. The people out there are simply disgusting. They work for money, and if it were not about admission they would have made the website even poorer. Now, imagine yourself in an online shopping store, which refreshes its page everytime you add, delete, or change order, of your purchase queue. How annoying would that be? As annoying is the architecture of the CCB website.

This is question that all of us would have in their minds, but only a very few courageous ones dare to step forward to answer it…

Balancing the Cycle Well the basic question was why is it easier to balance the cycle when it is moving fast than when it is stationary. So lets look at it. First, why does the cycle fall? For the cycle to be stable it should be in an orientation in which its centre of gravity is at a point directly above the line the joining the points of  contact of the tyres with the road. This is an unstable equilibrium, so even a slight disturbance would send it to the more sta … Read More

I bought this cell phone around two years back, Nokia E63. I got a PC Suite bundled in the memory card itself as the Nokia guys don’t bother to give a disc for easy installation. Well, we’re here to talk about something else. The thing that I’m going to take up here is a very simple and basic software named Nokia PC Internet Access. This software has a very basic framework meant to waste as less data, as possible. This is a very basic program with very basic functionality meant to give high performance Internet Connectivity. Given below, are two screen shots of the program, one is of the main screen and the other is of the connectivity settings’ page. We’re going to have a quick walk-through of this easy to use software.

Its been a few weeks since I’d posted an article by Sriram on “How to find the coefficient of friction?” via ‘Journal De Broullions”. And now, here come one of my initiatives, or so as I thought towards the optical isomerism in Organic Compounds. As you all know, I joined Baluni Classes last year in September and the very first day I joined Baluni Classes. My chemistry teacher was teaching me something that was really awkward to look at. I am subcategorizing the post further, so that it becomes easy to read.

Woah!!! The much awaited Firefox 4 Beta 1 just arrived and I had hell of plans in my head to test Firefox 4, but I am sorry to say friends I am unable to review Firefox 4 this time because it just got screwed up when I installed it in my PC… I’m posting a pic of what showed up in my PC, when I installed the Beta.!!!

Capture

Some of my friends were requesting me to write something interesting but short! I don’t come to know why do people avoid reading good text. I like reading anything that is interesting, but yeah, to some extent, I do believe that reviews are not much interesting to read! But still, if I find something interesting on the internet, I read it regardless of the length of the text. Still, If you just don’t want to read the text part,

I planned to make a review of all top web browsers, but then found out that it was a very difficult task to review all web browsers available, at once! So, I decided to make a one-by-one review of web browsers first. After I’ll be done with reviewing, all the web browsers, each at a time, I’ll be giving you all a quick compare and a brief review of all the web browsers together. Below is the review of Google Chrome, and the review of all other browsers will also be coming very soon! So, keep reading…

It was not more than three years ago that a green colored logo dominated the world of WWW (World Wide Web). But then, all of a sudden AOL declared Netscape Navigator 9 would be the last official Netscape version released! The whole world suffered a state of shock! The explanation given for this sudden disaster was, that Mozilla(brand name under which AOL releases its web suites) wanted to focus only on Firefox and hence would be shutting down all other development works. So, we see a brother sacrificed its development for the development of the other brother! You might be thinking that why am I talking about Netscape Navigator or Mozilla Corporations when the review is supposed to be about Google Chrome. Actually Google Chrome is an outcome of a great thinking process and a very large group of developers, and all those developers developed the idea of a next generation browsing experience from Netscape Navigator. Netscape Navigator was the world’s first browser to support tabbed-browsing and today, every browser available on the internet, avails this facility. As Google Chrome is an open source project, every developer across the globe can develop it in his own way, but here we will talk only about the official releases of Google Chrome. I’ll try to cover each and every possible aspect of the web browser, but still, if you find something new, you’re always welcome in the comments section!

This is my first ever review, so I would like to tell you the structure of the review, I am about to make. This review will simply be divided into four parts, namely

  • Features: This title would be explaining the good points present in Google Chrome’s latest version. It will also give you a detailed analysis about all the common features available in Google Chrome. This part is good for the novice users as it will provide them, a lot of useful information that would like to use but they don’t exactly know where to find them.
  • Grudges: This section would be featuring some of the points that are either very clumsy in Google Chrome or it really lacks them. This section will also be featuring the errors or bugs that I came across while going through Google Chrome.
  • Tips, Trix and Tweaks: This title is my favorite one, although it has a very less to feature, when it is about Google Chrome. But as I told you, it’s my favorite as it would be featuring tips, trix and some major tweaks that were discovered by me solely. That doesn’t mean that nobody else has ever discovered those tricks ever, instead it means that I wasn’t taught those tricks by anybody else, I learnt them myself.

That is simple! You can directly switch to whatever section you want to read about Google Chrome!
